There were numerous reports about Apple shifting production from China to India. Now reports are coming about the new iPhone 12 made in India will be coming in mid 2021.
The company already hired 10000 local workers for production. Apple’s Taiwanese company Wistron planned to invest about 2900 crores for the local production of the devices.
The new Apple plant is located at Narasupara, Kolar district 70km away from Bengaluru city. The KIADB (Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board has allocated about 70acres of land for the plant. Whole plant will make at least 10000 jobs locally in India whereas 2000 positions are already filled as of now. The interviews are being conducted currently experienced personnel’s are being recruited. The freshers will get the opportunity later.
iPhone 12 Made In India Production
There is no clear indication about the product will be manufactured or assembled only. Obviously the whole product cannot be made completely in India right now that may possibly in the near future. But according to reports, iPhone 12 made in India series will be manufactured locally. The printed circuit boards PCB which is a bed for all the smartphone components will be manufactured in southern India.
Because of this almost 22% of import taxes will be saved. This will be major boost to “Atmanirbhar Bharat” mission. The iPhone 12 is expected to be made in mid 2021. While iPhone XR, SE 2020 is expected to start in December 2020.
Already the Wistrons’ rival Foxconn started a plant in Chennai. Apple is slowly moving out from China, not completely but they are trying to and every non-Chinese brand is trying to move away due to some international pressures and future considerations. Besides the Chinese Giant Huawei already started making their own Ecosystem now.
Anyhow, big companies like Apple moving to India will be a major boost for India. The local jobs, as well as some prices, also might get reduced, the main benefit is is the local jobs and revenue.
