We are using the processor’s chipsets with the max 7NM fabrication process. But the leading Taiwanese chipsets mass producer revealed really interesting news. As per the earlier sources, TSMC’s already began work on the 5NM process which is going to lead by Kirin 1020 and Apple A14 Bionic. Check that full news here. Okay, so its 5nm processors are gonna come before the end of this year. What do you think about 2nm chipsets? It seems impossible? Though Moore’s law stated that the computer chipset’s power will double every two years. But it’s not doubling or we can say it is now reached to the limit. But now TSMC revealed that they are working on 2nm chipsets and they are going to release it in the 2025 year.
Moore’s law states the performance of chipsets depends on the number of transistors they have on the chipset. So to accommodate more number of transistors lesser sizer of transistors are required. Now in these days, we have seen max 7 manometer fabricated processors which give up to 2.8Ghz clock speed. But they are going to get replaced soon by 5nm processors later this year. The interesting thing is that TSMC said, they are already working on the R&D of 2nm processed chipsets. They have already kickstarted this project in the 2019 year.
Also, TSMC stated they are working on 3nm chipsets too and going on as planned. TSMC’s competitor Samsung is yet to manufacture 5nm processed chipsets and also delayed plans due to COVID-19 pandemic situations. But TSMC is going on with 2nm process chipsets too, though we will not be able to see those chipsets until 2025 year. It is expected that 2nm chipsets will be having 3.5 times the processors of 7nm process.
