Once the world’s number 2 smartphone brand even beating the Samsung now facing existential problems. Due to the US restrictions and other countries followed USA for the banning of 5G equipment’s is causing Huawei lots of problems. In these events, Huawei sold Honor for 15.2 Billion to Zhixin Information Technology CO LTD.
The Zhixin already has 30 agents and dealers of Honor brand in Shenzhen city. The full deal includes Huawei selling off Honor subsidiaries and all assets related to Honor for $15.2 Billion to Zhixin. Once the acquisition gets complete Huawei will not have any part in the Honor brand.
But here is the interesting thing Huawei sold Honor to Zhixin to work as independent brand. It shows Huawei needs to remove the restrictions by US. Honor with no ties with the Huawei will not face any restrictions. Also, Zhao Ming working CEO of Honor when it was under Huawei continues to serve for independent brand as well. Along with him other officials are joining the new Honor brand.
Huawei sold Honor, What will change?
It was a give or take a decision for Huawei. Because of restrictions from the USA for using Google services has hit hard. They came down from 2nd position to lot lower and business got limited to China only. It has been said, Huawei had ties with the Chinese Government as Huawei was the biggest brand from China. Huawei stated this acquisition will not cause any aftersales problems.
All the services will be available for consumers without any problems. Honor was the leading brand which was spreading slowly in budget-mid range devices. It was getting popular in India until the Google ban cause to restrict their devices. Though Honor still launched their devices with their own play store alternatives. But it has long way to go cause most of the apps and dependent on Google Play services.
