The keynote held by AMD this year hosted by the CEO Lisa SU announced something interesting. Alongside the AMD 6000M notebooks series GPUs, the answer to Nvidia DLSS tech is here. AMD FidelityFX Super resolution is the answer from AMD. Earlier Nvidia introduced DLSS (Deep learning super sampling technology) that allows GPUs to render at lower resolution thus getting high performance. Also, without any hamper to the image quality.
But you know Nvidia DLSS is only for Nvidia exclusive and its available only for their RTX range cards. But the AMD FidelityFX Super resolution will support 100s of CPUs and GPUs. It includes the hardware from AMD as well as from its competitor Nvidia. The best thing is AMD’s GPUOpen technologies, meaning that it will be published open source and free for developers to use. And not only will developers be able to use it on AMD GPUs, but they will be able to use it on NVIDIA GPUs as well.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR)
So, the AMD FidelityFX Super resolution will support the AMD RX6000, RX5000 as well as RX500 and Vega series too. Apart from this the tech will support Nvidia’s 1060 GPU too (they showed the results on this GPU). Though AMD didn’t revealed any technical details. But all you have to know now is your old graphics will get boost from this for sure.
Talking about the game titles supported under FSR. The list is not revealed yet but GodFall is going to revealed on June 22. Alongside AMD will post the FSR to GPUOpen for open source. AMD stated that over 10 game studios and engines will implement the FSR more details to be revealed on June 22.
So if you have any CPU or GPU especially the AMD one you might get the advantage. Not only the desktop versions but laptop versions will also be supported by AMD FidelityFX Super resolution too. So, as for the reveal, We will see how it will handle the image quality. But according to the claims AMD made if it works out like that it’s gonna be super impressive.
