Emerson TVs are very common but their small remotes are easily lost. Replacement remote controls are expensive. The solution is a universal remote provided you have the right code. The problem is that Emerson TVs use different code formats. You need the correct code based on your remote brand. This guide lists all codes by number of digits and brand. Emerson TVs work with lots of different codes because the brand has existed for a long time and their TV software accepts codes from RCA, GE, Philips, One For All, Magnavox as well as cable remotes such as Spectrum and Xfinity. First check your remote’s quick start manual. Does it have codes of 4 digits or 5 digits? Then go to the right table. The set with just 2 digits is small and contains only codes for Emerson. How to Program a Universal Remote Codes To Emerson TV
Programming is pretty much the same regardless of the brand. All you do is turn on the TV, pick up remote and point. Then press the TV button, or Code Search on Magnavox and RCA remotes, Setup on GE and Philips remotes, and Magic on One For All remotes. Enter the code. Look at LED. If it blinks twice then turns off that means code worked. If it stays on then try next code on your list.
- Turn on the Emerson TV and point the remote at it.
- Press the TV button, or Code Search on Magnavox and RCA remotes, Setup on GE and Philips remotes, and Magic on One For All remotes.
- Watch for the LED flash that confirms the remote is in programming mode.
- Enter the code from the matching table. On some RCA remotes, keep the TV button held while typing.
- Check the LED: two blinks then off means the Universal Remote Code was accepted (One For All), the light switches off (Magnavox, GE), or the keys flash three times (Philips).
- If the LED does not react that way, the code was wrong — try the next number from the list.
Code Search and Fallback Codes
Most people try and fail on the first attempt. This is totally normal. Proceed through the list in order. Firmware for Emerson accepts multiple Universal Remote Code even from the same brand of remote. If nothing works on the list try the remote’s automatic code search. It will cycle through the entire library until your TV turns off. Then just press OK to save. Some remotes also use codes like 0000 or 1234 as defaults in search mode.
Remote Not Working After Pairing?
If your remote fails to work after you have paired it, the batteries are almost certainly dead or something is obstructing the signal to TV. Make sure nothing is blocking the TV IR receiver. Point the remote right at it clearly. Still not working after new batteries and clear line of sight too? Remote probably broken.
