All the upcoming smartphones are giving tough competitions to each other. Everyone is trying to bring out more and more. The fast charging technology is one of them. Brands are revealing insane fast charging technologies like OPPO, Xiaomi which are offering 65W and 100W charging is also in the making. But these evolving fast charging technologies brings us to one question, the effect on the battery!! There were lots of tweets surfacing about the degradation of the battery because of the fast charging technology.
No doubt the brands are already clarified that safety measure is taken care of already. Recently, Andrei F from AnandTech has revealed some interesting information. They clearly said in the tweet that, OPPO’s 40W charging degrading the battery to 70% compared to 15W charging which will degrade battery to 90% in the same number of cycles. Also, the tweet from Andrei F claims the information is confirmed by them. This reveals so much about brands who maybe just marketing themselves to achieve the bigger numbers. Recently SuperVOOC charge with 65W technology is announced, so it will be more degradation of battery? This technology really needs to be tested openly.
Some brands are still sticking to the same 18W charging. These big brands know fast charging technology too but they are not implementing it. Brands like Apple, Nokia, Google and on some devices Samsung. They have not yet introduced some exclusive fast charging technology yet. Maybe because they know the long term effects? We think brands should be more transparent about the whole situation and technology. There have been already some issues raised about the fast charging and battery degradation.
